Phoenix Model Flying Club

Sunday 22nd September 2002

It was a beautiful sunny day although the wind was gusting force 4-5 grounding all the models.
However the static competition went ahead judged by Tom Taylor and Andy McQuat.
The competition was very close with a high quality turnout, some models had to be marked down for such minor details it's almost a shame!

1st  place went to Phil Wyld with his B-25 Mitchell
2nd  place went to George Sutton and his DH71 Tiger Moth
3rd  Place was taken by Dave Rudder and his Fokker DVIII

Phil's beautiful B-25 Mitchell in the colours of Jimmy Doolittle's mount on the first WWII raid on Tokyo (see the recent Pearl Harbour movie).

Powered by 2 two stroke 35's, Phil did give it a couple of taxiing runs to see how things ran.

Built from the Aerotech (ATI Manufacturing) kit, it's taken Phil 6 years to complete it!

Phil getting the Mitchell ready for a taxi run.

George Sutton's DH72 Tiger Moth, not to be confused with the DH82 Tiger Moth biplane.

Looks good, very tidy.

Dave Rudder entered this menacing Fokker DVIII from 1918.

and the D VIII from another angle.

Jim Poyntons C-47 Dakota, powered by 2 RCV 60 four strokes.

And a close up of the front end.

Peter Watts' Focke Wulf 190, Powered by an RCV 120 it looks good with the 3-bladed prop.
Built from the Flair ARTF kit, Pete got best ARTF for his efforts.
